Help Center/Responding to incidents
The incident page
Open any incident to see what happened, who was paged and what to do next. This article explains each part of the page.
At the top
A trail back to Incidents with the incident’s reference, then the title. Under the title, one line of facts: severity, status, how long it has been open (or how long it took to resolve), the team, and whether the page is live.
The buttons sit below. They go away once the incident is resolved.
- Acknowledge shows only while nobody has acknowledged it. After you press it, it stays in place showing Acknowledged, so the buttons don’t move.
- Resolve marks it fixed.
- Assign to me shows when nobody is assigned.
Timeline
The Timeline lists every event, oldest first, grouped by day, each with its time. Events include created, assigned, paged, acknowledged, escalated, notes and resolved. Some have a grey line under them with more: how many of the person’s channels a page reached, or who wrote a note (the note itself is the main line).
Paging
The Paging section shows who was paged, on how many of their channels the page got through, and who acknowledged. Each step has a dot:
- Green: the page reached them, or someone acknowledged or resolved it.
- Orange: it escalated, or it reopened.
- Red: the page reached nobody.
- A spinner: still waiting for someone to acknowledge.
The section appears once someone has been paged, or while the incident is waiting.
Details
Details shows the status, severity, responder, team, source, when it was opened, and the reference.
Live updates
The page updates by itself. “Live” means changes appear as they happen. “Reconnecting” means the page lost its connection and is trying again.
Notes
- Type in Add a note…
- Press Add (or Enter).
You can’t add notes once the incident is resolved.
