Create a schedule
For managers and admins
A schedule decides who is on call, in what order, and how often they hand off. This article shows you how to create one. You need the Manager or Admin role.
Create it
- Open Settings → Schedules and press New schedule.
- Give it a name. The default is “Primary”.
- Choose the timezone.
- Choose Daily or Weekly.
- Tap people in the order they will be on call. Ama first, then Kofi, then Esi, for example.
- Press Create & generate shifts.
Handoff time
At first, handoffs happen at 09:00 in the schedule’s timezone. If you want a different time, change it later with Edit rotation. See Edit a rotation.
Timezones
The schedule’s own timezone is used for handoffs, so daylight-saving changes are handled for you.How far ahead
Oncall keeps 90 days of shifts planned ahead and tops them up every day. You do not need to add shifts yourself. Shifts appear on the calendar once the schedule is created.
The main schedule
The first schedule you create for a team is that team’s main schedule. Oncall uses it when an incident names only a team and no schedule.
