Help Center/Responding to incidents

Raise an incident yourself

Anyone can open an incident and page whoever is on call. You can do it in Oncall, in Slack, or by connecting a tool.

In Oncall

Press New incident on Home, Incidents or On-call. Fill in:

  • Title: what’s wrong.
  • Severity: SEV2 unless you change it.
  • Team: the company’s default team unless you pick another.
  • Schedule: the team’s main schedule.

You’ll see “Incident opened. Paging on-call.”

In Slack

Mention Oncall in a channel, for example @Oncall checkout is failing sev1. Or use the command /oncall page <what's wrong> [sev1-4] anywhere.

The incident goes to the team that uses that channel. If none does, it goes to the company’s default team. Admins set that default in Settings → Organization, which also shows who that team would page right now.

Who can do this in Slack

Only full members of your Slack workspace, or people whose Slack is linked to their Oncall account, can do this. Guests and people from other companies can’t.

From tools

Connected tools raise incidents by themselves. See Webhooks.
