Edit a rotation

For managers and admins

Use Edit rotation to change who is on call, in what order, and when the handoff happens. You need the Manager or Admin role.

Open it

Go to Settings → Schedules and press Edit rotation on the schedule you want to change.

What you can change

  • Order: move people up or down with the arrows on their row to change who goes when.
  • Remove: take someone out of the rotation with the cross on their row. At least one person must stay.
  • Add someone: pick a teammate from the list under the order. They join at the end.
  • Every [n] days at [time]: how many days each person is on call (1 for daily, 7 for weekly) and the time of day the next person takes over, in the schedule’s timezone.

Save

Press Save rotation when you are done. Nothing changes until you save. Before you save, the dialog says what will happen, for example “When you save, Ama stays on until Mon 09:00. Then Kofi takes over.”

What happens to shifts

  • The shift running now stays as it is: whoever is on call keeps the pager until it ends.
  • Then the person after them in your new order takes over, and the rotation carries on from there.
  • If nobody is on call, or you took the person on call out of the rotation, the first person in the order takes over (straight away when nobody is on call).
  • There are no gaps, even when you change the handoff time.

Saving plans the next 90 days again from the current shift, using your new order and times.

Check the result on the calendar. If something looks wrong, open Edit rotation again and adjust it.
